Vicar’s Article: Untangling Christmas!
Are you like us at the vicarage? We’re often ‘untangling Christmas’. One moment we’re wrestling with wobbly tree stands and mysteriously tangled lights, and the next we’re humming “O Come, All Ye Faithful” without even realising it. In the midst of all the glitter and good intentions, we’re all gently reminded of the heart of the season: the extraordinary good news that God stepped into our world as a tiny, vulnerable child.
As we prepare our homes and our hearts, the story of Jesus’ birth invites us to rediscover hope, peace, and the joy that doesn’t depend on perfect plans (or perfectly baked mince pies!). Whether your Christmas is shaping up to be calm and cosy or endearingly chaotic (like the vicarage!), may you know the warmth of Christ’s love.
And if you’d like to celebrate that love with others, you are very warmly invited to join us at our Christmas services (see below).
Janet & myself wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Rev’d Douglas Black
