We usually have three Sunday services – 8am, 10am and 6.30pm. The following is a guide to help you to decide which service might be most helpful to you.
The 8.00am service The 8am service (held every Sunday) is a short, said communion taken from the Book of Common Prayer. There is usually no sermon – it is a quiet, comfortable, reflective service lasting about 35 minutes and ideally suited to the time of day. Everyone is welcome and you can choose to take communion or receive a blessing or sit back and use the pause in the service to recharge your spirit. Try it!
The main 10am service caters for a wide range of Christian worship through the following forms of service:
Family Service: The Family Service is normally held on the first Sunday of the month, and is a lively, family friendly, accessible service consisting of hymns and simple prayers. It is often led by one of the Youth Groups, and sermons are interactive, and normally visually based. Children of all ages are welcome, as are adults and infrequent visitors to All Saints. You will find a warm welcome, an exciting and friendly service, and a cup of tea afterwards.
Word and Sacrament: These services held once a month, are a shortened version of the full Communion Service, with participation from the Junior Church while the younger children are in Sunday School. The service consists of modern hymns backed by a music group, prayers and bible readings, and the sermon is often illustrated by Powerpoint presentations. Holy Communion is taken during the service and anyone who comes but has not been confirmed is welcome to approach the altar for a blessing.
Holy Communion: This is a traditional Sung Communion Service, and is more formal in structure. The service consists of hymns supported by our choir, prayers and bible readings, and a sermon. Holy Communion is taken during the service and anyone who comes but has not been confirmed is welcome to approach the altar for a blessing. Junior Church and Sunday School is in operation for the children during this service.
Children are welcome at any of the services, alternatively there is a special area for parents and young children at the back of church, which provides some activities, toys and games for any pre-school children whilst their parents can still feel part of the service.
The 6.30pm service is a more informal service, using a range of worship and teaching styles, with extra space given for interaction and prayer. At regular intervals we have a Prayer & Praise service.
We also hold a communion service at 9.30am every Thursday.
At specific times during the year we will hold a Day of Prayer.
