Job Vacancy – Part Time Director of Music
All Saints Church Thelwall are looking to employ a Part Time Director of Music to work in both the church and our local primary schools.
The post has become available because of the retirement of the previous Director of Music who remains part of the church.
The successful candidate will organise the church choir and music group, lead and facilitate choir practices and musical worship, and will engage children in the village primary schools, which are non-faith but welcome church input, encouraging children and young people to take part in musical worship outside the school environment.

| Pay & Conditions | In line with Real Living Wage (as defined by the Living Wage Foundation), and Royal School of Church Music guidance. Additional income from Weddings and Funerals as in RSCM contract. |

| Hours of Work | 6 hours per week in church, 14 hours per week with the school and community |

| Contract Length | 2 years including one year probation, + 1 year extension |
| Main Duties and Responsibilities | |
| 1 | Responsible for the organisation of church music. Leading choir and music group in church services on Sundays, including additional services such as Messy Church |
| 2 | Structuring and leading musical events including weddings and funerals; taking a leading role in church based social events. |
| 3 | Working in the two local primary schools, teaching songs and engaging children with music |
| 4 | Encouraging children and young people in musical worship outside the church and school environment |
| 5 | Introducing school songs and music to church services |
| Essential Requirements of the Candidate | |
| To be successful in this role it is considered that a Christian Belief / Faith is essential | |
| The church offers an electric piano and an organ, and the successful candidate will need to be proficient in keyboard skills | |
| The candidate should have been part of a choir or music group, although not necessarily in a leadership role | |
| The candidate will have to have an Enhanced DBS check, and will need to complete the church Safeguarding Processes and Training | |
