Eco “@ Home” Weekend
Well what a weekend that was, our Eco @HOME event went amazingly thanks to the involvement of way too many people to mention individually but two special thanks. Number one to Chaigeley who were as always very generous with their facilities. Number two is absolutely everyone who turned up to take part in any of the activities or events. What a privilege it is to live in this beautiful village with you all. The bonus is that as we themed the weekend around Green issues it sparked some great discussions and activities to drive us forward as a village working together to do the best we can for the environment. If you are keen to do your bit (and if everyone does there bit we really can make an impact) then why not join the discussions and get involved in our plans for some green initiatives on the church land opposite Gigg Lane? The next Eco Thelwall meeting is on Monday 19th October, 7pm in the Parish Hall Committee Room. As is usually the way it was the children who stole the show at the weekend in terms of their enthusiasm for everything and passion for the environment. I’m conscious that they are working hard at school all week and can often feel overwhelmed in particular when we talk about environmental concerns. A great way to calm their worries is to reassure them that the solution lies in everyone doing what they can when they can and get them actively involved in recycling or green gardening. Let us know what you’re up to we would live to feature some of your eco endeavours in the mag’. I’m off to try and collect some conkers to dissuade the spiders – wish me luck!
