Vicar’s Article: Seeing & Hearing – New Audio Visual System for Church
We are excited to share plans for a proposed new audio-visual system in the church, which aims to improve both sound and vision for all who worship here. At the heart of this upgrade is the installation of a large flat TV screen above the pulpit, positioned to provide clear visibility of hymn words and pictures.
This new system will also bring significant improvements to sound and visual quality throughout the building—particularly in the chancel, where clarity has often been a challenge. With better, more discreet speakers, we hope everyone will benefit from a more connected worship experience.
We firmly believe this upgrade will support more accessible worship, whether for regular services or for special occasions, especially funerals. Bereaved families often ask us to display photos of their loved ones, which, with the current system of projector and screen, isn’t always feasible.
We’ve been working with our conservation architect to ensure that the system is in keeping with the Victorian, grade 2 listed gem that is All Saints in Thelwall. Maintaining the character of the church is always a priority for us. It is ‘sacred space’ for the congregation, the village and the many visitors who come through our doors.

Exciting! Revd Douglas Black
